Becky Schlegel

Singer-songwriter Becky Schlegel has emerged at the forefront of the Upper Midwest's bluegrass, country and acoustic rock scene. The title song of her 2002 album, "Red Leaf," was awarded Music City Minnesota Song of the Year in February 2002. Becky has been a featured artist on KTCA-TV "News Night," on KMSP-9's "The Buzz" with Robyne Robinson, and on Garrison Keillor's popular public radio show "A Prairie Home Companion." Her band was selected to showcase at IBMA's World of Bluegrass in 1999. She was named the Minnesota Music Awards Bluegrass/Old-Time Artist of the Year in 2000, 2001 and 2002.

The Becky Schlegel Band includes Becky on guitar, lead, and harmony vocals; Brian Fesler on harmony vocals, guitar and banjo, and Gordy Johnson on bass. Becky also frequently appears with Brian Fesler as a duet. Her performances feature her stellar vocals, solid instrumental work, and outstanding songwriting.

"...I was impressed by Becky's vocal range and flawless guitar playing. I also grew to enjoy the vigorous, fast-paced banjo songs like "Welcome To New York" and "99 Percent" that were played with a great deal of passion and intensity." - Aaron Backes, Muse Arts Magazine

"Becky Schlegel's pure, sweet voice with its hint of country twang allowed her to woo her audience with a heartfelt ballad one minute, and rock their very souls with rousing bluegrass the next." -Ron Adams, West Central Tribune
