2008 will be the six year of the Minnesota
Flatpicking Guitar & Duet Championships to be held at
the Minnesota State Fair Heritage Stage over Labor Day weekend.
Besides cash awards and trophies for the winners, all entrants
and accompanists get contest T-shirts and free State Fair gate
passes.
2007
Results
 In
the Minnesota Duet Championship up to 20 vocal duets
will compete for prizes, performing
two selections in the Old-Time, Bluegrass, Country or Western
Swing style using one or two acoustic string instruments. The
judges will listen to the performances from a sequestered area
backstage.
 In
theMinnesota Flatpicking Guitar Championship each contestant
will play two instrumental numbers in the traditional fiddle
tune or bluegrass style in the first round. After the awards
ceremony for the youth, adult and senior age divisions, the
top five-scoring contestants will be announced. In the second
round, each will go on to play two additional flatpicking guitar
tunes and the Flatpicking Guitar Championship winners will be
announced.
