The following events are presented by the Minnesota Bluegrass
& Old-Time Music Association (MBOTMA) and made possible
in part by a grant provided by the Minnesota State Arts Board
through an appropriation by the Minnesota State Legislature
and a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.
Saturday April 19th
2008, 7:30 PM, Bemidji MN: Minnesota
Bluegrass Community Concert with Monroe Crossing, Paul
Bunyan Play House (314 Beltrami Ave). Called the Midwest's premier
bluegrass and gospel quintet, Monroe Crossing plays an upbeat
blend of classic and traditional bluegrass, bluegrass gospel
and heartfelt originals. Tickets are $12 in advance, $15 day
of show, $10 for teens, and kids age 12 and under are free.
Presented by the Minnesota Bluegrass & Old-Time Music Association
(MBOTMA).
Friday & Saturday May 9 & 10, 2008, 7:00 PM to Midnight, Minneapolis MN: Spring Fling MBOTMA Fundraiser, Dulono's Pizza (607 W Lake St). A dozen bands over two nights perform bluegrass, old-time stringband, and related forms of acoustic music, including The Roe Family Singers, Morgan's Run, The Blue Drifters, Bob & Lynn Dixon, Now And Then, Buggy Whipp, The Row Buckers, Last Known Whereabouts, Light Of The Moon, San Souci Quartet, and Blue Yodel #9. Free Admission. Donations to be solicited. All proceeds will benefit the Minnesota Bluegrass & Old-Time Music Association (MBOTMA).

May 30th to June 1st 2008, Richmond MN: Minnesota Homegrown
Kickoff Music Festival, El Rancho Mañana Campground
& Riding Stable (27302B Ranch Rd 56368, 20 mi W of St Cloud,
I-94 exit #153 at Avon, 9 mi S on County 9, L on Mañana
Rd). Three-day outdoor music and camping festival with over
twenty regional groups performing bluegrass, old-time stringband,
and related forms of acoustic music. Showtimes are 7:00 PM to
11:00 PM Friday, 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM Saturday, and 10:00 AM
to 4:00 PM Sunday. Presented by the Minnesota Bluegrass &
Old-Time Music Association (MBOTMA).
Thursday through Sunday,
August 7th to 10th 2008, Richmond MN: 29th annual Minnesota
Bluegrass & Old-Time Music Festival, El Rancho Mañana
Campground & Riding Stable (27302B Ranch Rd 56368, 20 mi
W of St Cloud, I-94 exit #153 at Avon, 9 mi S on Cty 9, L on
Mañana Rd). Four-day outdoor music and camping festival
with stage shows, dances, workshops, showcases, children's shows,
demonstrations, crafts, and good food in five stage areas. Nominated
2005 & 2007 IBMA Event of the Year. Grasstowne, Cadillac
Sky, Mike Seeger, Balfa Tujours, Michael Cleveland & The
Flamekeeper Band, The Dirk Powell Band, The Stairwell Sisters,
Monroe Crossing, and more TBA. Mainstage showtimes are 6:00
PM to 11:30 PM Thursday, 11:00 AM to 11:30 PM Friday, 11:00
AM to 11:30 PM Saturday, and 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM Sunday. For
